SPWF

The event schedule for the Steampunk World's Fair this weekend has been posted. Now that I can see what's going on when, I'm getting excited. (I'd be more excited if I could print the schedule out. Apparently despite being a PDF, it's not printable.) There are a couple of things I don't want to miss.

Steampunk is not my thing, but this event is practically right on my doorstep (roughly half an hour away), so I'd be crazy not to go when I have the weekend free. I convinced demongrey that he would enjoy it – not that it was hard – and so most likely he'll be out for the day Saturday. His enthusiasm will probably be infectious.

Patience, grasshopper. ;-) I'm checking daily, but I don't really expect a full listing until the week of. A couple of the tracks have some of their titles listed under the News link.

*sigh* Write one little paper and suddenly World's Fairs are on everyone's minds.

I think you should go to the Writing Alternative History bit on Saturday... I know I would want to...

Maybe. Will depend a little on my other options. Also, the two following hours in that same room are the things I actually care about, and I usually try not to spend too long in any one room or my eyes start to glaze over.

But but... the whole purpose of you going is for me to live vicariously through you no? ;-)

I suppose you could be in the final hour of "Victoriana 'Horror Above the High Seas'" RPG.

The number of people who've told me they're living vicariously through me is kind of frightening. My life is boring!

And... no.

Mine is exciting? Want to write my paper on American Diplomatic change in the Ottoman Empire in the early 1880's?

Okay that can be dinner hour after attending the Rhythmica! Poetry Slam. :-) Aren't you glad to have me planing your day?

Hey, you can plan anything you want for my day. If you're not going to be there, good luck enforcing the plans. ;-)

You do realize I'm going to this one mostly to people-watch, not for the stuff on the schedule, right?

Really? Anything huh? In that case I'd start with the SP Architecture and Design, go to the performance of Absinthe Heroes Rock Opera, grab some lunch and head over to the Victorian Dance Etiquette Workshop, People watch and catch the Tesla coil demonstration people watch more and spend the evening from 8 on in the Blue room. :-) Glad to be of help.

Well but people watching as cool as it is... I mean gets old after a while...

Depends a little on which people I'm watching, and whether I'm also talking to them, doesn't it?

Am I alone in thinking that the Karaoke on House with Foreman and House as backup singers was beyond hilarious?

What events are you going to attend?

You're not alone.

At SPWF? As noted previously, I want to get to Art & History of Kissing and Project Munchausen. Other than that, it will depend a lot on what demongrey feels like doing - I'm not going to abandon him in a crowd of strangers - and also on whether I get a chance to follow hughcasey around, which is generally much better entertainment than anything on the schedule.

I'll read the schedule and the website tonight and see if there's anything else that really interests me. I haven't had a chance to do so yet.

I also haven't decided if I'm going to go either on Friday after work or on Sunday. I'm registered for the whole weekend, but it's more fun when there are people I know there. Again, will need to actually have time to read the stuff and see.

Jealous! You'll have a great time, I'm sure - and have a bit of fun for me, 'kay?

I will.

I'll try to remember to take pictures, too.
