Geek cred

Just finished watching DS9. That's one heck of a story. I can see why people were pushing it on me for so long. Real politics and moral dilemmas and a view of the universe less shiny than the Federation.

Besides, I like root beer, but only once in a great while.

I don't think I'm going to go on to Voyager or Enterprise at this time. I'm pretty sure they'd only be a disappointment.

I'll have to think about what's next.

And that's why it's the version of Star Trek I like.

I will second B5. I have seasons 2-4 on DVD.

I agree with the B5 recommendation, and would add that if you're not feeling enthusiastic about it part way through the first season, give it time, it takes them a while to lay all the necessary groundwork for a really amazing and complex story arc. Oh, and there are 5 movies. You could/should watch the first movie before watching Season 1, although there is a time separation between the movie and the start of Season 1 in the world's time line.

We just finished watching DS9 not too long ago and it's definitely the best of the ST series, although some of the random silly interludes when there's a war on seemed unnecessary. But they tied up story lines pretty well, and I wound up being surprised that I liked Ezri (I adored Jadzia when I watched the first few seasons when it was first airing on TV) and I actually would have liked more time with her. What we found most interesting was the evolution of both the Klingons and the Ferengi between the first season of TNG and the end of DS9.

I know you haven't watched it (yet) so I won't say too much.. I worked my way through Voyager a few months back (when Netflix first added it). I'm glad I watched it so I know what happened. And there are some good episodes; there are also some truly terrible episodes. I finished it feeling that some characters could have been developed way more, the plot was pretty weak often enough that I almost stopped watching, and that Jeri Ryan was the best thing to happen to the show. Vague enough? :)
