Oh, and a friendly reminder to anyone passing through New Jersey: As of today, it is illegal to use a cell phone while driving in New Jersey without also using a hands-free device.

My sister told me that went into effect about 1 1/2 years ago... when I was there last September for her wedding she was very specific about it (and complained bitterly for ages and ages over it). Perhaps it was only a county thing before?

Maybe?

It's been the law in NY for a couple of years. They passed it for the entire state of NJ a couple months back, but it only goes into effect today.

I know there have been individual towns with the law in between, so maybe it was either local or county.

It occurs to me that I've got no idea if there's a law like this in Tucson. But then again, I always use my earpiece in the car (occassionally I'll answer and say, "Hang on," till I get someplace I can put it on).

I actually use mine most of the time, even just sitting around the house, if the call's going to be more than a minute or so. Sitting there holding it to my ear annoys me.

I keep mine in the car so I don't forget it and then not be able to take calls in the car. If I'm going to be on a longer conversation, I'll get it out of the car, but if it's a shorter conversation just making plans or something, I'll just talk on the phone.

I keep mine in my purse... my purse has two built-in cell phone pockets, one on the outside and one on the inside. I keep the phone in the outside pocket, and the earpiece and the cover/belt clip in the inside pocket.

Not a problem for me..
I've never been able to talk on the phone and drive at the same time...

Re: Not a problem for me..
*grin* Not unless you got a built-in doohickey - and even then it'd still be hands-free.
