I would say something about my weekend, but really, blackfog pretty much summed it up. In some ways, going outside for a couple of hours to play Frisbee was really the highlight of the weekend. Fresh air, sunshine, and exercise are on the list of things we all need and seldom get. It's so much easier to get motivated with other people to make it more interesting.

Work-related frustration of the day: how best to reconcile "I don't have the money right now to get anything that isn't urgent" with "You should always have an extra on hand so we don't run out" and with "Don't order anything without checking with me first." As usual, the answer seems to be just to muddle through and ignore the criticism.

Don't you know that you are expected to steal the office supplies?

That might possibly be the answer. It just seems a little wrong, for a law office.

I thought you didn't handle criminal, though. Now, it would be wrong for you to defraud someone on a real estate transaction at work, if you handle real estate. But ripping off Staples for office supplies or hiijacking a WB Mason truck would be perfectly permissible, and is, clearly, expected.

So this reply is going to go to the wrong person...

Well, but usually when I steal office supplies, I'm stealing them from the office!

There is that.

I know the sentiment expressed in your last paragraph far far too well...

Somehow in the last month we've gone from "you might not get paid...we may have to close the doors" -- which is, as far as I can tell, still very much a possibility -- to "let's hire a photographer and a musical ensemble for this event..."

I'm not entirely sure how this happened or the logic in it...

Is this sort of like using the company Kinko's account to color copy a 4'x5' map of Greyhawk two weeks before leaving?

That's... a bit extreme, I think.
