My copy of HP7 arrived in the mail today; I picked it up on my way out the door after lunch and unwrapped it on my way to work. Note to self: my commute may be easy and quiet, but it is still not appropriate to read while driving. I seriously considered calling in suddenly sick, but with the audit going on today, it would have been a poor choice.

Anyone who wanted my attention tonight? Out of luck.

For those who asked if there's really such a difference between the British and American versions: How many pages is the American edition? I could swear I was told it's over 700 pages. Mine appears to be 607 pages, and it certainly looks thinner.

The American version is 735-ish.

And frankly, I appreciate the thicker paper and bigger font. Not to mention the lovely page layout and chapter heads by Mary Grand Pre.

The Arthur Levine imprint (for Scholastic) committed early in the series to uniform book dimensions and font size.

I tend to appreciate smaller and lighter. I find it painful to hold large or heavy books for long, and generally prefer paperbacks for that reason.

being weird, i waited until now -- as in book 7's publication -- to read books 1-6. i started thursday -- waited a bit longer than i intended, but stuff happens -- and am working my way through book 5. had to take a break of a day between 1 and 2 to drive to canada, and between 4 and 5 for like 3/4 a day because it was starting to blur. But yah. I'll be done with 7 by the time i get back to NY and spoilers (spoilers = my 7 year old friend jeremy) That is, if i can find a place here that is SELLING book 7. we don't exactly have a book store in town. i'm told there are several stores over in one of the major towns 20-30 miles away that sell t. And I'm sure the book shop at the border down in the states will have it. Anyone know if there's a canada- US difference in the book? i know #6 in canada was printed entirely on recycled paper.
