I would imagine that riding with oidhche at night through the Watchung Reservation is rather like riding a rollercoaster in the dark, like Space Mountain.

The reason that I would imagine this is that following oidhche through the reservation at midnight is rather like riding a rollercoaster in the dark while trying to steer and keep the thing on the tracks.

I'm just glad I told him I was following him, or I'd probably still be in the reservation now.

Nah, nah, you weren't that bad. I felt a little like it was a high-speed chase, but that's got more to do with the roads in question, which are pretty roller-coaster-like all by themselves.

I wouldn't have had any trouble at all if I'd known the roads better. Of course, if I'd known the roads better, I wouldn't have been following you...

It was fun.

For the parts where you were doing 25 and I would have been happy at 35, that doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

For the parts where we were going fast enough that it scared the crap out of me and it felt like about 50 (so was probably all of about 35), this scares me...

So, what are the posted speed limits through there, if you know? Somewhere like that, it's largely irrelevant anyway, but I'm curious.

*grins* That’s like following my mom through the back roads of Andover (where she learned to drive). We’re in the woods, there’s lots of bumps and turns and mini-hills. We’re surrounded by trees so we can’t see what comes next. And she learned to drive there so she drives like a bat out of hell. 50–60mph on 35-25mph roads. Then, she gets to the 50 mph roads and does 60-70 mph because they’re “straight” roads. And both she and my sister make fun of me forever afterwards because I was so slow! I hate following my mom through Andover… (I have this bad habit of doing within 5-10 miles of the speed limit, especially if I’m not familiar with the area.) Actually, John’s been on those roads. I took him to Grandma’s house once.
