Twelve Days of Christmas (2 of 2)

The seventh through twelfth days of Christmas
Wednesday, December 31: My boss said those fateful words that I hate: "I'm thinking about closing early." Aim to close by three, we'll probably get out by about four. Understandably, I didn't go to lunch at two. I finally left around five. Collected daernhelm and daeron and headed for PA.

Half of my friends list was at the party, and most of the other half probably doesn't care much, so I won't spend a lot of time on it. I am glad that I remembered I wanted us to call ourika though. She sounded pleased to hear from us.

Thursday, January 1: It's hard to leave a party when everyone else is still there, and even harder on a short amount of sleep. However, we'd all reached a point of togetherness (or at least its converse) such that I fell into the more social half of the spectrum. This is pretty much always a Bad Sign. So, I collected a carload and drove back to NJ.

Friday, January 2: 10-2? Well, 9:10 to 3:15, anyway. Once I'd eaten, I fled back to PA. By the time I got there, I was pretty much nonverbal. I continued to suffer meltdown as the evening went on.

I digress here to thank A&C again for putting up with me. I wasn't the only extended-duration houseguest this weekend, but I was there quite a while and I'm there very often. I try to be a help rather than a bother, but I know that the people-ness of it all can get to be too much. I don't want to wear out my welcome. It's a safe place for me there, a place where the bad things of job or home don't touch me and I can recover. And I can play with cats. I really and truly appreciate what they give me, and I wish I could think of a way to express that and/or reciprocate. Words are easy, but insufficient.

Saturday, January 3: I showed A the joys of Costco. And I saw a nice set of pots and pans that I want. I need to start making lists of things I'm going to need when I get my act together and find a job and move. I must have done something else with the day, but I've no idea what. However, the Stealth Cat curled up on me for a while at the end of the day, so it was decidedly a good day.

Sunday, January 4: Sleepy rainy Sunday. I spent most of the afternoon reading and napping, much of it in the company of demongrey but without much interaction on either part. But, like all good holidays, it had to end, and so back to NJ. My poor car must be very sad at me.

Monday, January 5: A productive day at work. Amazingly, my boss was in a good mood and was working hard too. So far it's been a decent start to the New Year. It doesn't really make me want to stay there, but it does at least make it more tolerable.

So, there we are. Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good night.

It is so much more fun to be obsessing over how best to clean mouse pee off My Little Ponies instead of what the surgeon will say tomorrow.
