I made myself a chart with some easy exercises on it. If I do everything on the chart, I get a gold star. Or at least a penguin; I don't think I have any gold stars but I know I have a lot of penguin stickers.

I have yet to earn my penguin for any given day. True, I only started this on Friday, but we're talking 5 sit-ups, 5 leg lifts, that kind of thing. The goal here is to establish a habit while it's easy, then make it harder.

It's kind of sad how easily I get tired, winded, overheated. But then, that's the reason I need to do this. I'm not even in good enough shape to try Curves right now - a half hour workout, even one designed for fat women, would probably kill me.

However, the little bit of exercise makes me feel very good, once I catch my breath. It eases the stress-induced muscle tension, at least in the places I've figured out how to stretch. I actually want to keep doing it, and to work my way up. I think this is a very good sign. And maybe tomorrow I'll earn my penguin.
