When, this weekend, I bemoan my somewhat odd collection of bruises, and cannot remember how I managed them, these are the ones I should know about:

The toe-shaped bruise I expect to have on the back of my right leg about three inches above the heel is from high-speed impact with my left big toe. I don't know how I managed that, but it woke me up enough that I got out of bed.

The oddly shaped one on my upper right arm about three inches below the shoulder is from a sudden catch of a heavy box fill of 200 file folders. Legal size file folders are shipped in a box too long and unevenly weighted to balance on top of the head without a hand steadying it.

Why were you trying to balance a box of file folders (of ANY size) on top of your head?

I frequently carry things, especially large but not too heavy things, on top of my head. At least for people without significant spine curvature, it's supposed to be better for the back than carrying in front of you or on your side. This is particularly true if you can't reach to the opposite side of the box...

In this case, I had to lift it over my head to get through the passageway between my desk and where I needed to take it. So I was just going to balance it... but it slid when I took the first hand off, and I had to spin and catch.

*grins* I'm really sorry, but a picture in my head of you doing this (it's in black-and-white and has a "jumpy" look like the Three Stooges) is giving me a good giggle.

The bruise, btw, is not making me giggle.

The bruise is making her guffaw.

It's making me poke it repeatedly...

That one did show up quite impressively even by about 6 PM yesterday.

Is this bruise from the box? That must have been a HUGE bruise to still be there! (I think it's number 17 out of 75 of the photos, in case the link doesn't work right.)

Yup. Not only that, that's with quite a bit of makeup on it.

It actually faded a lot more than I had expected when it developed in all its colorful glory - it's only been about ten days. But it's still rather visible.

The kind of sad thing is that most of the professional photographer's shots are going to catch that arm and not the other, as well.

Lucky you.

Good thing that the focus when people look at the photographer's pictures is going to be the bride :-)
