Random Observations

Faith in humanity moment: I got in the back of the line at the bank. Then I noticed a woman in a motorized wheelchair about to leave. So, I opened the door for her and went out to get the outside door as well. When I went back into the bank, one of the women who'd been preparing her deposit had gotten into line, but she told me to go ahead of her, in the place I'd been in originally.

I should have gotten gas yesterday in PA. Here, the gas prices did drop by about two cents last week. However, in PA they dropped by something like 10 or 15 cents, and are now actually cheaper than they are here.

ourika is running a First Post contest for comments in her journal. neonnurse has come up with some cute small pictures to use as comments to posts that were well-written and enjoyable, but that she has no specific comment for. Meanwhile, I'm sometimes feeling a lack of comments to my posts. It seems a little backwards that the ones I put time and effort into often get no response at all, but the throwaway babble posts are the ones that spark conversation (for example, I bet I get responses to this post).

There seems to be a storm gathering. That's not unusual for this time of year, of course. I hope it starts soon, as it seems to be affecting me strongly today. I don't know if it's pressure, or humidity, or electrical charge, or light levels.

You are getting a response to this post, but there's a reason for that:

You mentioned me. *grins* I feel all squiggly now because my contest is being advertised!

You win! :)

I'm even going to post actual words back! I have a feeling that a lot of people are like me, and find LJ a guilty pleasure, or even an addiction. I came up with the picment idea because I felt badly about responding to people so infrequently, and it's at least something fun and personal I can send back quickly. Maybe that's because my brain is better at producing quips than well-thought out verbiage. :/

I have the same trouble with email. My business stuff I can just whip right out, but let someone write and stick in a point that requires THOUGHT to answer, and...well, if I get it done within a few months, that's a quick turnaround!

The Internet: Because RealLife is so guilt-free.

I really like your picment idea. I write primarily for myself, not for my friends list, but I still wonder sometimes whether I'm the person other people like to read, or the one they skim past because I just go on and on.

Can't speak for everyone, of course, but *I* don't skip you. :)FWIW.

Responding to silly posts is easy. Complex posts, I tend to leave to reply later, when I've thought about what I want to say. Later hasn't come yet.

Yes, I'm well aware I have nothing to complain about.
